Your adventure starts in Macbeth country, with a visit to Dunkeld Cathedral before stopping at a Highland distillery where you have the chance to sample a wee dram. We travel on to ancient Clava Cairns, inspiration for the hit series Outlander before a stop at eerie Culloden Battlefield. Our journey to Loch Ness takes us past Inverness, known as the capital of the Highlands.
Venture to the most northerly point of British mainland and board a ferry to the Orkney Islands. Explore the Tomb of the Eagles, a Stone Age burial chamber that was filled with thousands of human bones and the remains of sea eagles many millennia ago.
A day of exploration, first Skara Brae, a Stone Age village inhabited between 3,200BC and 2,200BC before travelling back in time at the magnificent Ring of Brodgar standing stones. Admire the views of the dramatic coastline and stones of Stennes before returning to Kirkwall.
After a walk along the stunning Duncansby Head we head south through Scotland’s rugged terrain, and sparsely populated wilderness and onto Dunrobin Fairytale Castle. Our journey takes us past the ruins of Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness where a party awaits at Morag’s Lodge.
The day is yours! Hunt for Nessie in a canoe, mountain bike along the Great Glen Way, take an exhilarating RIB trip on the loch or hike up a mountain to get amazing views; there’s something for everyone!
We take in stunning Glencoe, some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery and hear the story of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan. Then onwards past Doune Castle, a setting for Outlander and Game of Thrones, before returning to Edinburgh.
All aboard the Hogwarts Express! The Jacobite Steam Train between Fort William and Mallaig is said to be the greatest rail journey in the world. The train crosses the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, and sweeps along the west coast, offering bonnie views of distant isles and white sand beaches. This must be added at the time of booking to secure your seat.
In 2011 HAGGiS Adventures teamed up with 'Trees for Life', a Scottish charity specifically dedicated to restoring 1,000 square miles of self-sustaining, wild, Caledonian Forest with the aim of helping Scotland 'Stay Wild'. We have pioneered an Eco Scheme where you can make an optional £2 donation when booking any tour. We will match every pound you donate, with proceeds going to the Trees for Life.
