We have partnered with our mates at The Sleat Community Trust to roll up our sleeves and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Isle of Skye. Don yer boots and get down and dirty to transform the Tormore Forest through tree planting, path building and repair. But don’t sweat it, it’s not all hard toil; You can expect stunning scenery, jaw dropping waterfalls, legendary stories, drinking drams and all-round guaranteed belly laughs. This is the best way to immerse yourself into the real Scotland all whilst giving back to the land and local community. Think you can handle it?

We depart Inverness at 8:30am and head West, driving through heart-dropping mountain scenery and along the legendary, world-famous Loch Ness, where you might just catch a glimpse of the almighty monster herself. Crossing The Skye Bridge, we learn about what makes the Isle of Skye so ‘mythical and mysterious' and enjoy our legendary guide’s tales as we drive down the stunning Sleat Peninsula. We will don our boots and meet the local crew who will explain what is in store for the coming week – then it’s time to get our hands dirty! After our first day working in the Tormore Community Forest, we head to the wee Island village of Portree on the Isle of Skye, our island home for the next few nights, where our true Scottish Hospitality will shine. Cosy up by the fire and enjoy a dram with new mates, marvelling on an afternoon’s graft. (Overnight Portree)

Today’s adventure sees this morning’s physical graft pay off with the afternoon spent soaking up the heart of Sleat’s hidden beaches and rugged coastlines. A wonder up the Southernmost point of Skye passes a wild and white sandy beach with crystal clear turquoise waters.; a spectacular spot for some Scottish grub. Heading to the lighthouse, we give our eyes a wee treat with epic views out to the small Isles of Rum, Canna and Eigg. Let that wild energy loose in the wide, open spaces. Our final morning will be spent adding the finishing touches to our volunteering project before bidding farewell to our new mates in Skye and returning to the mainland over the Skye Bridge. We view the beautiful and romantic Eilean Donan Castle – the most photographed castle in Scotland and setting for ‘James Bond, The World is Not Enough’ and ‘The Highlander.’ Our journey takes us through the rugged, awe-inspiring scenery of The Highlands, returning to Inverness in the late afternoon, with time to hit the pub for a well-deserved beverage or two.
