Step away from Netflix and join us on an epic journey to discover the real Outlaw King; the hero that is Robert the Bruce. Rewind 700 years, as we explore historic sites with connections to the legend himself, and the insane Wars of Independence. The stories which inspired Outlaw King and Braveheart feature more drama and gore than directors would dare show on the big screen. We’re totally cool with sharing though! Immerse yourself in tales of betrayal, bloodshed, and victory as we blaze a trail into the heart of the action; from Linlithgow Palace and Bannockburn, to the Wallace Monument and Dunfermline Abbey. Learn about Robert the Bruce and his quest for Scottish independence, finishing off what the rebellious warrior William Wallace started before his barbaric execution. Prepare for a blockbuster day of history and heroes.

  • Witness the sights and sounds of medieval battle at Bannockburn

Itinerary

We depart Edinburgh at 08.30 on our Outlaw King mission. First we take a look around Linlithgow Palace; once home to Scotland’s monarchy and famed as the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. When you see this epic ruin, you’ll understand why it was used as a filming location for Outlaw King and Outlander.

Channel your inner warrior and prepare for battle at Bannockburn; forever remembered in history as the site where Robert the Bruce defeated King Edward’s army in 1314 and gained independence for Scotland. Doesn’t get more patriotic than that!

We just cannae get enough of Scottish heroes, so we charge up to the Wallace Monument to share tales of William Wallace’s rebellious antics and insane victory against the English army in 1297.

Finally, we pay homage to our Outlaw King and national hero, at his final resting place at Dunfermline Abbey.
