OUR GREEN STORY
We love our amazing country and want to keep Scotland beautiful. This is why we have always had a strong commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism. We make great efforts to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and are proud that HAGGiS Adventures was the first tour operator in Scotland to achieve a national Green Tourism Award and actively support Scottish charities such as Trees For Life.
Trees for Life
Plant a tree in the HAGGiS Grove
Imagine planting a tree that will stand forever as part of the restored Caledonian Forest. The HAGGiS Grove is a dedicated forest developed by HAGGiS customers and selected trips will get the chance to leave their own tree as their contribution to helping Scotland 'Stay Wild'. These trips will be met by a Ranger, hear about the work of Trees for Life and plant a tree in HAGGiS Grove.
Dedicate a Tree
If you are not lucky enough to travel on one of our selected trips you can still choose to leave your mark in Scotland. Our 'Dedicate a Tree' scheme allows you to have a tree planted in the HAGGiS Grove by Trees for Life on your behalf. You could also choose to gift a tree, perhaps one of the most eco-friendly and unique presents you can buy. You also get a certificate as proof of your dedication. Read more information on our work with Trees for Life.
We have pioneered an Eco Scheme where you can make an optional £2 donation when booking any tour. We will match every £1 you donate, with proceeds going to leading Scottish environmental charity, the Trees for Life.
Off Set Your Carbon Footprint
If you’re looking to offset your carbon footprint for an upcoming or previous travel experience, our not-for-profit TreadRight Foundation has identified four leading carbon offset programs - Conservation International Carbon Fund, myclimate, The Nature Conservancy, and Rainforest Concern – Forest Credits - that provide travellers with a number of ways in which to offset your travel experiences and a variety of carbon offset projects to choose from.
Supporting Local Festivals
HAGGiS Adventures are committed to sustainable tourism and preserving the unique spirit of Scotland. We have been visiting Shetland for over ten years with the Up Helly Aa tour. As a donor of the Festival, we are able to give back to the local community which will, in turn, ensure more travelers can enjoy this fiery spectacle.

HAGGiS Adventures, in partnership with the TreadRight Foundation, encourages the sustainable development of tourism by supporting projects that benefit the environment, heritage, and community.
TreadRight is a not-for-profit organization established by The Travel Corporation and its family of brands. The stories of our projects and partners
A leading environmentalist, adventurer and explorer, Céline Cousteau truly embodies the TreadRight philosophy. As a documentary filmmaker and gifted storyteller, Céline has travelled the world working to help amplify the voices of the amazing individuals who are working to protect ecosystems, wildlife, and people. In 2015, TreadRight welcomed Céline as our official ambassador, helping us tell the stories of our projects and partners.
