Day 1: Edinburgh
Check in from 3pm.
Arrival day. Evening meet up with your Guide and trip mates, it’s time to get the Hogmanay festivities started and perhaps sample a few local beers in a couple of Edinburgh’s famous pubs. If you're arriving early and want some ideas about what to do in the city, pop in and see us in the Royal Mile for some ideas. We're the local experts!
Day 2: Edinburgh
Today you'll get a real taste of the Highlands. We leave the city and head towards the battlefields of Stirling where legends such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce made their names. There may even be time for a snowball fight depending on the weather! Later, take in the official opening of the festival, the Torchlight Procession where you have the option to carry a torch along with thousands of other revellers! Don't miss our legendary Ceilidh for some traditional Scottish dancing, HAGGiS-style!
Day 3: Edinburgh
We kick off the day with Aussie and Kiwi New Years with loads of fellow Antipodeans to celebrate with! Party on as the celebrations continue around the globe or enjoy a free afternoon to explore the capital and the wonders of the Winter Festival, the city centre is buzzing with rides, stalls and pop-up bars. Get ready for the main event, make sure you grab your Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party ticket before heading to the best New Year celebration in the world! When the clock strikes 12 it’s your chance to kiss everyone you can get your hands on and wish them Happy Hogmanay!
Day 4: Edinburgh
No doubt there will be a few sore heads this morning but what better cure for a hangover than a Loony Dook! For thirty years, South Queensferry has played host to this insane event. Hundreds of, well... loonies, take to the freezing waters of the Firth of Forth, most in fancy dress and all of them up for a good time. This event helps to raise thousands of pounds for charity and with the impressive Forth Bridge in the background, this obscure tradition is an event not to be missed. After an optional ‘refreshing’ swim in the sea, we head back to the capital where you can join the Edinburgh's city wide activities. Tonight we have one final fling for those who are still up for it!
Day 5: Edinburgh
Check out of your hostel in the morning. Before you leave be sure to breathe in the last of that fine Scottish air and appreciate the magnificent views of the city before heading off on your travels.
Check out 10am.
Add at the time of booking:
The Torchlight Procession - Approx. £12/pp
Join 50,000 spectators and participants at the official opening of Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations. Being at the heart of the procession and carrying your own flaming torch gives a unique perspective and should not be missed. The number of torches is limited and they always sell out so add to your booking to avoid disappointment.
Note: Torchlight Procession is an outdoor event using wax-based torches and wax from torches can blow onto clothing when windy, please dress appropriately.
Loony Dook Swim - Approx. £11/pp
What better way to bring in the New Year than jumping into the freezing waters of the Firth of Forth. The Loony Dook is always a sell-out but you can guarantee your space by adding the swim ticket to your booking. Transfer to spectate is included in your tour.
