WEST HIGHLAND WAY ADVENTURE
We head north from Glasgow at 10am. Our adventure begins with mountain biking north past shimmering lochs and through lush green forests. You will pass areas such as the ‘Khyber Pass’ and Conic Hill with amazing views. it’s no coincidence that this landscape has inspired artists and musicians for centuries.
Today we take to the water and canoe the world famous Loch Lomond. The surrounding Highlands are home to red deer so keep your eyes on the shore for a chance to spot some Scottish wildlife and admire the mighty Ben Lomond. We stay overnight in lodges that are only a short stroll from The Old Drovers Inn if you fancy a pint of local ale after the day's activities.
Travelling on foot and by bike, we follow the River Falloch through stunning gorges and rocky rapids. As we trek north through Strathfillan we come to the site of the Battle of Dalrigh where Robert the Bruce battled with the Clan MacDougall in 1306. We stay overnight in Tyndrum, at the southern edge of Rannoch Moor.
Today we bike and hike through one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. We take the old military road, built in the 1700’s by General Wade to control the Scots when we trek through the barren Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe. The rugged mountains and wide open skies will leave you breathless.
We tackle the legendary ‘Devil’s Staircase’, named by Wade’s soldiers who built the route and take in the mesmerising views of Rannoch Moor and Buachaille Etive Mor behind us. In the afternoon, we take to the water and sea kayak along the stunning fjord like Loch Leven.
We kayak from the calm inlet of Loch Leven into the open waters of Loch Linnhe where we often spot seals, otters, cormorants and other wildlife. The trip ends at Fort William, a town overlooked by Britain’s highest mountain Ben Nevis. Take a stroll to the Grog & Gruel pub for refreshments and recap the past days' adventures with your group.
In 2011 HAGGiS Adventures teamed up with 'Trees for Life', a Scottish charity specifically dedicated to restoring 1,000 square miles of self-sustaining, wild, Caledonian Forest with the aim of helping Scotland 'Stay Wild'. We have pioneered an Eco Scheme where you can make an optional £2 donation when booking any tour. We will match every pound you donate, with proceeds going to the Trees for Life.
We’ll show you the best of Scotland’s wild side, and help you find yours too. The stories of your life are here in Scotland. We cannae wait to show ye!
