We head for the Highlands via Stirling, the ancient Scottish capital, the skyline dominated by its castle and the iconic Wallace Monument. We stop to hear of Scotland’s most famous patriot and his part in the medieval Wars of Independence.

We pay a visit to ‘Hamish, the Hairy Coo’ and drive further into the Highlands through the scenic beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. We pass the shimmering waters of Loch Earn before stopping for lunch at The Famous Grouse Experience, one of Scotland’s most famous whisky distilleries. The optional guided tour will not only give you an insight into how ‘uisge beatha’ (‘water of life’) is made but also takes you on an interactive journey to discover the history behind one of Scotland’s most iconic whisky brands.

Having revived ourselves with a wee dram we head to the Hermitage in the heart of Perthshire and take a woodland walk to see the spectacular Black Linn Falls on the River Braan. Our return journey visits the quaint village of Dunkeld, made famous by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. It is also renowned for its stunning cathedral by the banks of the River Tay. Then it’s past the iconic Forth Bridges and home to Edinburgh.
