From the outset back in 1993, we have always had a strong commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism. We make great efforts to minimise the environmental impact of our operations. We are proud that HAGGiS Adventures was the first tour operator in Scotland to achieve a national Green Tourism Award and actively support Scottish Charities such as The John Muir Trust and Trees For Life.
Busabout, HAGGiS and Shamrocker are all founding partners of the The Travel Corporation Conservation Foundation (CF). We understand that the tourism industry leaves its mark on a destination, and it's important to us that that mark is a positive one. The Travel Corporation Conservation Foundation (CF) supports the sustainable development of tourism through its work with conservation projects around the world. The CF is also a primary sponsor of The Tourism for Tomorrow Awards – encouraging tourism operators to develop and share sustainable tourism practices around the world.
We continually strive to help protect our planet for generations to come. In 2011 the CF worked on a number of projects including a partnership with UK based charity the Travel Foundation aimed at reducing pollution in the Nile River, Egypt; a project with the National Trust to protect the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland and support for Glasgow University on an archaeological excavation project. In North America, we annually volunteer to help rejuvenate part of the Grand Canyon with Tourism Cares.
