Day 1: Arrive Edinburgh 29th Dec

Check into your city centre accommodation and have a wee wander around stunning Edinburgh (‘Auld Reekie’) to get your bearings.  Tonight, we’ll get together and kick things off in spectacular fashion, joining the amazing Torchlight Procession, the opening event of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2011.  Join the famous Up Helly Aa’ Vikings from Shetland and thousands of torch carriers as they create a river of fire from the historic Royal Mile to the Son et Lumiére and fireworks finale on Calton Hill.   Afterwards, we’ve got a party lined up in a local venue so everyone can get into the party spirit straight away.

True Highland Lassie!

Day 2: Highland Day Tour 30th Dec

Up early this morning ready for your stunning day trip from Edinburgh which will give you a real taste of the Highlands. From the battlefields of Stirling where legends such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce made their name, to the ancient fortress of Menzies Castle. We explore the stunning Falls of Dochart and beautiful Loch Tay, before heading to Menzies Castle where we will be treated to a Highland Clan Show, given a warming dram of whisky by the fire and allowed to roam around the castle at our leisure.  We’ll then head to a local village in search of some lunch in order to provide fuel for our afternoon adventures – either a ‘wee walk’ or snowball fight in the Highlands (depending on the weather!).  Once back in Edinburgh, there is our legendary evening Ceilidh (traditional Scottish dancing event) where you’ll meet all our other ‘Snogmanayers’ (people attending Hogmanay) and can dance the night away with men (and women) in kilts.

Day 3: Explore Edinburgh - 31st Dec Hogmanay!

Today you will get the chance to explore our beautiful city on a walking tour with one of our Wild & Sexy local HAGGiS Guides!  Now that you’ve worked up a good appetite it’s off to the Three Sisters Pub in the Cowgate to see in the Aussie & Kiwi New Year with big screen TV’s and loads of fellow Antipodeans to celebrate with.  It would be a good idea to grab some food here and fill up in preparation for the Street Party tonight.

All fed and watered you have free time to explore the Capital, head down to Princes' Street Gardens to the Winter Wonderland or head back to the hostel to get dolled up for the biggest New Year party ever. Don’t forget, when the clock strikes 12 it’s your chance to kiss all and sundry and wish them Happy Hogmanay!

Loony Dook 2010!

Day 4: Loony Dook 1 st Jan 2011

No doubt there will be a few sore heads this morning but what better cure for a hangover than a Loony Dook! For the last 25 years South Queensferry has played host to the Loony Dook. Last year, hundreds of well... loonies, took to the freezing waters of the Firth of Forth.  Many of them in fancy dress and all of them up for a good time.  This event helps to raise thousands of pounds and with the impressive Forth Rail Bridge in the background, this obscure tradition is truly an event not to missed!  (Don’t forget your swimmers and fancy dress)

After a refreshing swim in the sea, you’ll have time to grab something to eat before heading back to the Capital where you can warm up with some Glühwein at the German Markets or try some of their hot cherry beer.  Tonight we have a final farewell party in the city, so come along for one final fling with your new found tour mates (and guides)!
