Day 1: 23rd December
It’s time to get Christmas underway and say goodbye to the big smoke as we leave London by coach and head north to Bonnie Scotland! Arriving in Edinburgh (Scotland’s Capital) in the early evening, you'll have the chance to check out a few of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks and perhaps a pub or two! Overnight accommodation is in a city centre hostel, right in the heart of the action.
Day 2: Christmas Eve
Heading north from Edinburgh, we pass the Forth Bridges, through Perthshire - surrounded by mountains, forests and salmon packed rivers. We will stop at Dunkeld to visit the beautiful Cathedral and hear gruesome tales of the Wolf of Badenoch who is buried there. We then head north to the Pass of Killicrankie where you will hear tales about the Jacobites and Bonnie Dundee. Then it's off to lonely Culloden Battlefield, scene of the last major battle in Britain set in the Cairngorm National Park. We pass over the Kessock Bridge with views of the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth as we head for our lavish evening accommodation in a haunted Highland castle!
Day 3: Christmas Day
Christmas Day will never be the same again. After a good night’s sleep and a quick breakfast, we’ll depart for our journey north over Bonar Bridge. On the way take in the views of Dornoch Firth, and Dornoch town's picturesque Cathedral. Frolic on the amazing sandy beaches and stop off at the spectacular Falls of Shin.* Unlimited fresh air will mean no more hangovers! A few snow ball fights and snowman building attempts* will set you up for the slap-up Christmas feast awaiting our return to the Castle. After a delicious meal you can grab a partner and work off some of your Christmas indulgencies Ceilidh dancing!
*Weather permitting
Day 4: 26th December
Winding our way down the West Coast of Scotland back to Edinburgh in a leisurely manner, we’ll visit the monstrous Loch Ness and the mysterious and haunting Glencoe - areas that formed the backdrop to the movies "Braveheart" and "Rob Roy", then across the wilds of Rannoch Moor (watch out for the Stags)and south past historic Stirling, arriving back in Edinburgh early evening.
Day 5: 27th December
Bid a fond farewell to Scotland as we take the coach back to London. Swap phone numbers and Facebook details, catch up on all the scandal and gossip from your trip and say a last goodbye to your HAGGiS crew. We’ll have plenty of DVD’s and music to help pass the journey, arriving back in London in the late afternoon.
