Day 1: Edinburgh to Carbisdale
Heading north from Edinburgh, we pass the Forth Bridges, through Perthshire - surrounded by mountains, forests and salmon packed rivers. We will stop at Dunkeld to visit the beautiful Cathedral and hear gruesome tales of the Wolf of Badenoch who was buried there. We then head north to the Pass of Killicrankie where you will hear tales about the Jacobites and Bonnie Dundee. Then it's off to lonely Culloden Battlefield, scene of the last major battle in Britain set in the Cairngorm National Park. We then pass over the Kessock Bridge with views of the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth as we head for our lavish evening accommodation in a haunted Highland castle!
Day 2: Carbisdale Castle to Skye
This morning we travel west through Sutherland with views of the impressive Suilven, a spectacular mountain ridge, before arriving at the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool. We will stop off at the impressive Corrieshalloch George and then drive through stunning Achnasheen, a gorgeous area where you can see 1st hand the effects of the Highland Clearances in the 18th & 19th Century. Next we head for the fabulous Isle of Skye, where we spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the 'winged island’ – a magical place with awesome scenery, legends and faerie stories. Our destination for tonight is a crackin wee village on the Island called Kyleakin. The locals will be out in force to give you a warm welcome to the town and make sure you experience life in the Islands in the most traditional way possible (i.e. they’ll be in the pub).
Day 3: Skye to Edinburgh
It’s time to wave goodbye to Skye and head back to the mainland on the last day of our trip. First stop is a photo stop at Eilean Donan Castle, a very popular Castle made famous in films such as Highlander & James Bond. Next we drive one of the most picturesque roads in Scotland past towering mountains and stunning Lochs as we head for Fort William and Ben Nevis - Britain's highest mountain. Discover 'The Weeping Glen', Glencoe, where we hear about the infamous massacre of the MacDonalds. Over the wilds of Rannoch Moor, we then pass Stirling with its famous Wallace Monument, where the true story of Braveheart is told, before returning to the capital City of Edinburgh!
