Apart from the 1st day when we leave London at 7.15am, we aim to depart at 8.30am each morning whilst on tour.
A typical day will see us cram in some walking, do plenty of sight seeing, hear countless tales and legends and learn more about our awesome history; Experience beautiful rural villages, gorgeous lakes and vibrant cities and towns. Dance naked around ancient standing stones (nakedness optional & weather dependent!); feel the history oozing out of the giant walls of ancient medieval castles; stroll through historic Stratford upon Avon as we retrace the steps of Britain’s most famous literary genius or wander around Roman Bath with its awesome architecture and rich culture.
As well as the ‘must see’ highlights such as Stonehenge and Snowdonia National Park, we try to take you to some of the less well know spots that only a local would know about. The best pubs, the best walks, the best ruins and the best views! No two days are the same on tour and much will depend on the weather, the group and the time of year!
It’s hard to please all of the people all of the time, but we do our best. So long as you’re flexible, open-minded and bring your sense of adventure, we guarantee you’ll have a ball. If the weather permits, we’ll try to have a picnic lunch where possible. If not, we’ll find a cosy rural pub or let you loose in one of the towns we pass on the way.
We should arrive at our overnight destination at approximately 5.30pm. After check-in, the night is then yours: have a shower, grab some dinner and party the night away to your hearts content! Options for dinner can vary dependent on where we stay. In some villages or towns there are a choice of different restaurants or pubs, so you can choose somewhere to you’re your budget/tastes. Some of the hostels may serve food too, offering you a hearty, healthy and good value feed. Your guide may decide to have a group meal where everyone does their bit – be it doing the shopping, preparing the meal, setting the table or cleaning up after! Some hostels also have self-catering facilities, so if you’ve brought your own food, or have picked some up on the way, you can cook up your very own feast. NB* Be aware that these facilities are often limited and are not suitable if every member of the group decides to self cater!
Your guide will often be around to take you to the best local pubs in search of friendly locals and some live music! Or you can do your own thing: Go for a walk, find a quiet bar, relax in the hostel and read, or grab an early night in preparation for another action packed day!
