What’s included in the price? The price of tours covers transportation and tour guide. We also reserve all accommodation whilst on tour so a bed is guaranteed. Accommodation should be paid for on arrival at each hostel. Hostel prices are approximately £14 - £16 per night.
What about entry fees? We keep extra costs to a minimum – there maybe a couple of entry fees into various attractions, but these are usually no more than £5 and are always optional.
What about food? Food can really be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. Most hostels have self-catering facilities if you wish to cook for yourself and there is also plenty of opportunity to eat out at local pubs and cafes.
What type of accommodation do you use? We use a variety of independent and Youth Hostel Association hostels. We guarantee dorm bed accommodation on all our tours.
Are double/twin rooms available? Some of the hostels we use do have private (double/twin) rooms but these are limited and dependent on availability.
NB: All accommodation requests must be made to us direct and at least 48 hours before the departure date. B&B requests are not available on HAGGiS Britain tours.
Is a sleeping bag required? A sleeping bag is not required as all hostels provide linen but it is a good idea to bring a towel.
What time do tours depart and arrive back? Check-in for all our tours is 7.15am at the Busabout office (tube stop Victoria). Tours will usually return to the office around 6.00pm.
Are there any age restrictions? The minimum age on all tours is 17. The majority of our passengers are in the 18 - 35 age bracket but there is no maximum age. As long as you are reasonably fit and have a good sense of fun, we are sure you will have a fantastic time!
Do you organise accommodation on the nights before/after the tour? We don’t, however we can provide information about clean, cheap and friendly hostels close to your departure point.
How much time do we spend off the bus each day? As much time as possible! The aim of our tours is to get you out and about and to actually experience the country you’re in. We’ll take you for walks, to explore castles, explain local myths and legends and tell you about our often turbulent history.
Will there be people travelling on their own? Whilst we regularly get couples and friends travelling together, every tour has a number of people travelling on their own and from the first day onwards you’ll have made a whole bunch of new friends!
Can I travel with friends even if we have booked separately? Occasionally we do have more than one departure each day so it is not guaranteed that you will be on the same bus if bookings are made separately. This can however be easily arranged by contacting us directly 48 hours prior to your departure date.
