John Muir Trust - Suilven Appeal
Leading conservation charity the John Muir Trust benefited from the fundraising efforts of staff and travellers on HAGGiS Adventures tours when tour leader Greg MacBride presented JMT Trustee Sue Hopkinson with a cheque for £1,000.
Joining Greg for the presentation in Ullapool were international travellers from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Greece who were part way through a Compass Buster trip exploring the Highlands including the spectacular far North West.
HAGGiS staff were keen to support the John Muir Trust’s work as many of their tours explore areas where the Trust owns land including Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, and Quinag in Sutherland, the Trust’s most recent purchase.
‘Everyone is blown away by Scotland’s magnificent and wild mountain scenery. We all felt that it would be a way of giving something back.’ commented Craig Irving, Business Development Manager for HAGGiS. ‘The company has a strong commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism practices and fully supports the great work undertaken by JMT’.
Allison Lock, the Trust’s Corporate Fundraiser, added ‘What this has also done is to start a great relationship between our two organisations and we will be working with the HAGGiS tour guides to help them learn more about the Trust’s conservation work so that they can share this information with their groups of travellers.’
National Trust for Scotland, Sole Trading Appeal
"Staff at HAGGiS Adventures, the youth tour specialists, have donated £1,075 for The National Trust for Scotland’s Sole Trading Appeal. The money will go towards much needed mountain footpath repair work and will help reduce erosion on the hillside and protect Scotland’s Mountains."
“Our team organise an Annual Festive Raffle with the support of the Company and our business partners. The NTS through the Sole Trading Appeal do vital work to maintain the mountain footpaths that so many visitors to Scotland enjoy. We are delighted to be able to support this initiative and help in safeguarding our environment – Scotland’s key attraction for tourists.” said Alastair Campbell, Managing Director at HAGGiS Adventures.
Tsunami Disaster Fund – Buy a Boat Appeal
"On behalf of the Irish Sri Lanka Trust Fund I would like to thank HAGGiS Adventures for your generous donation of £1,750 to the ‘Buy a Boat appeal’.
Your boat will provide a vital lifeline, providing work for three fishermen, not only helping to return them to their livelihoods, but also aiding them in their continuing effort to raise funds to pay for the building and refurbishing of homes, schools and orphanages. The boats were built locally in Sri-Lanka by reputable boat builders, which in turn created additional employment.
With the generosity of everyone, the coastal areas will eventually have homes built, and hopefully, in the not too distant future, normality will be restored to the people of Sri-Lanka who have suffered from the tsunami disaster.
We appreciate that there are many demands on your generosity and we are truly grateful for your support."
