Day 1: London To Edinburgh
It’s time for an Easter Extravaganza as we leave London by coach and head north to Bonnie Scotland! Arriving in Edinburgh early evening you'll have the chance to check out a few of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks and perhaps a pub or two! Overnight accommodation is in a city centre hostel, right in the heart of the action.
Day 2: Edinburgh - Loch Ness
Heading north from Edinburgh, we pass through Perthshire - surrounded by mountains, forests and salmon packed rivers. First stop is at Dunkeld which is situated on the River Tay. We then travel through the Drumochter Pass and Ruthven Barracks onto the Cairngorms National Park. The park is made up of unique mountainous areas of wild land, moorland, forests, rivers, lochs and glens. Then it's off to haunting Culloden Battlefield, where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobites were defeated. After some time wandering around the battlefield we stop off at Clava Cairns prehistoric chambered cairns, before arriving at our home for the night – Morag's Lodge by Loch Ness!
Day 3: Loch Ness - Skye
It’s an early start as we attempt to spot Nessie passing the historic Urquhart Castle on the way. We enjoy stunning scenery of the Kintail Mountains and Glenshiel, home to several Munroes and take in the amazing view of the Five Sisters, some of most spectacular mountains in the Highlands. We head towards Skye and discover the possibly the most stunning castle in Europe, Eilean Donan and then it's over the sea to the magical Isle of Skye! We spend most of the afternoon exploring its ruined castles, awesome scenery, Bonnie Prince Charlie, the jagged Black Cuillin Mountains, stunning coastlines and home of the legendary MacLeod and MacDonald Clans. Immersed in Celtic myths and legend, you’ll hear about selkies, the mischievous faeries and even learn the secret of eternal youth!
Day 4: Skye - Edinburgh
We head south past mighty Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain and the film location for ‘Braveheart‘ and Harry Potter, then a stop at the Commando Monument. Travelling through dramatic and inspiring Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692, over the wilds of Rannoch Moor, past the Trossachs and Callendar before taking in views of dramatic Stirling Castle as we head back to Edinburgh arriving early evening.
Day 5: Edinburgh To London
Bid a fond farewell to Scotland as we take the coach back to London. Swap phone numbers, catch up on all the scandal and gossip of your trip and say a last goodbye to your HAGGiS crew.
