Day 1: London To Edinburgh
TRAIN DEPARTS LONDON KINGS CROSS STATION TBC It’s time for an Easter Extravaganza as we leave London by train and head north to Bonnie Scotland! Arriving in Edinburgh in the afternoon, you have time to check out all the best sites: the castle, palace, Royal Mile and more. Overnight accommodation is in a city centre hostel, right in the heart of the action.(We will contact you closer to the time with hostel details)
Day: 2 Edinburgh To Carbisdale
Heading North from Edinburgh, we pass through Perthshire - surrounded by mountains, forests and salmon packed rivers. First stop is at Dunkeld which is situated on the river Tay a very relaxing and peaceful area. We then travel through the Drumochter Pass and Ruthven Barracks onto the Cairngorms National Park. The Park is made up of unique mountainous areas of wild land, moorlands, forests, rivers, lochs and glens. Then it's off to haunting Culloden Battlefield, where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobites were defeated. After some time wondering around the battle field you will stop off at Clava Cairns – prehistoric chambered cairns before arriving at your home for the night – The Haunted Highland Castle!*
Day 3: Carbisdale To Skye
It’s an early start as we head for Loch Ness and hunt down Nessie passing the historic Urquhart Castle on the way. We travel and enjoy stunning views of the Kintail Mountains and Glenshiel home to several munros and take in the amazing view of the Five Sisters – most spectacular mountains in the Highlands. We head towards Skye and discover the most photographed castle in Scotland, and possibly the most stunning castle in Europe, Eilean Donan, and then it's over the sea to the magical Isle of Skye! You will spend most of the afternoon exploring the wonderful Isle of Skye with its ruined castles, awesome scenery, Bonnie Prince Charlie, the jagged Black Cuillin Mountains, stunning coastlines and home of the legendary MacLeod and MacDonald Clans. Immersed in Celtic myth & legend, you’ll hear about selkies, the mischievous faeries and even learn the secret of eternal youth!
Day 4: Skye To Edinburgh
We head South past mighty Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain and the film location for ‘Braveheart‘and Harry Potter and also the Commando Monument. Travel through dramatic and inspiring Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692 over the wilds of Rannoch Moor, past the Trossachs and Callendar before taking in views of dramatic Stirling Castle as we head back to Edinburgh arriving early evening.
Day 5: Edinburgh To London
DEPARTS EDINBURGH WAVERLY STATION TBC Bid a fond farewell to Scotland, and take the train back to London. Swap phone numbers, catch up on all the scandal and gossip of your trip and say a last goodbye to your HAGGiS crew.
